What’s the most underrated skill in business?

Many communicators believe the professional world doesn’t value soft skills as highly as it should. Do you agree?

While these are important, there are also a lot of underrated skills a person needs to be successful.

We recently asked our Ragan.com Facebook fans to share the skills they think the professional world should value more highly, and they responded with a variety of answers. But most seem to think the professional world doesn’t have as high of an appreciation for soft skills as it should.

Skills such as kindness, optimism, compassion, courtesy and patience were among the most popular, as well as basic communication skills: “Spelling and grammar! Too many graduates from high-quality, post-secondary schools can’t string two sentences together,” Stephanie Wright Deschenes says.
