Report: 23% of workers plan to resign in 2022

If your company has been hemorrhaging workers in recent months, you’re far from alone.

Turnover continues to soar. Every month, it seems, smashes the previous month’s record for resignations. Just in case you thought the worst was over, according to Resume Builder, 23% of U.S. employees say they plan on quitting sometime this year.

The new data, published by Resume Builder, also finds that:

The data reveals that 61% of employees who plan to resign at some point in 2022 are already applying to new jobs. Most are just waiting to land a new gig before jumping ship. Is it too late to stop them from leaving?

Proactive retention—and easing tension—in the mushy middle

Resume Builder’s research confirms that those who have to deal with the public (including customers, students and patients) are at an extremely high risk for burnout. However, regardless of industry, the data shows that middle managers are feeling stressed and stretched to the max. The report states:

“Turnover will be highest among middle management, with 26% of workers in these positions planning on switching jobs.”
