When it takes multiple touchpoints to land a qualified job candidate, communicators can help HR teams by thinking like marketers and creating a journey for those candidates to follow.

During Ragan’s Social Media Conference last fall, Alloy’s Chief Operations and People Officer Blair Broussard shared some tips that can help communicators work with marketers and HR professionals alike to attract and retain the best employees.

Here are her tips.

Filling the funnel during recruitment

Treating a candidate’s journey as a marketing funnel is helpful here, which starts with creating awareness for a position and then brings interested candidates further down the funnel to the point of decision, then action.

Broussard recommends filling the “awareness” potion with organic content, blog posts and culture videos. After paying attention to which of these posts perform best, turn some into advertisements.

Don’t discount TikTok for Gen Z either, Broussard said. Selecting brand ambassadors who double as influencers can give your “awareness” portion of the funnel a jumpstart.
