Infographic: 81 percent of bloggers never make $100

There is an estimated 31 million bloggers in the United States.

That might make you wonder: Who are they? Which platforms do they use? Do they make money?

Lucky for you, a new infographic from Blogging.org has the answers.

Who blogs?

Sixty percent of bloggers are men; 40 percent are women.

Which platforms do they use?

  • Wordpress: 43 percent
  • Blogger: 35 percent
  • Tumbler, TypePad and Posterous: 16 percent
  • Other: 6 percent

Do companies blog?

Sixty percent of businesses have blogs, but 65 percent haven't updated theirs in a year or more. Thirty-five percent of companies update their blogs at least once a month.

Is blogging profitable?

Only 8 percent of bloggers earn enough money to support a family. Eighty-one percent never make $100.
