Scripps and MetLife execs share a pledge and checklist to help move your D&I forward.

Are you struggling to drive D&I at your organization?

“You’re not alone—it’s a common problem,” said past chair of PRSA’s Diversity Committee Natalie Tindall, Ph.D. during Ragan’s recent “D&I for Communicators” virtual workshop.

“Start small. Remember it’s a marathon, not a sprint,” said the chair of the Department of Communications at Lamar University before adding that D&I can be like an obstacle course.

“Speed, stretch, distance and creativity to find a path forward—all are needed,” Tindall said. “Allow for mistakes. Adjust and reassess when necessary. Never stop. Just keep going.”

During the workshop, Deborah Hyman, assistant vice president of global communications at MetLife, said a pledge is a great way to kickstart inclusion. Here’s MetLife’s:
