Measuring sentiment and engagement in Microsoft Teams
Yes, this powerful tool can be measured. Here’s how.
For many organizations, Microsoft Teams is the glue that holds it all together. The quick, chat-style program is helpful not only for 1-1 interactions, but also broader messaging from the comms team.
But sometimes, the tool can feel a little lawless.
“I like to refer to it as the wild, wild west of communication, and some of it comes from a lack of governance,” said Steve Gregoire, business development executive for PoliteMail, during a Power Conversation at Ragan’s Employee Communications Conference. “Anybody can create a Teams channel, anybody can create a Teams chat.”
While Teams differs from traditional communications styles like email due to its interactivity, this can make it a great way to measure employee sentiment without having to deploy yet another survey.
“It’s giving us the ability to see what’s the feel of that chat, what’s the vibe?” Gregoire said. “Are you seeing positive feedback? Is it neutral? Is it negative? Try to get an understanding of that particular chat or communication, to see who your influencers are.”
Once you understand those sentiments, you can reach out to your biggest cheerleaders and use them as trusted messengers throughout the organization.
