VIDEO: Ragan Leadership Council members share career lessons learned

Thoughts and lessons from some of the top minds in comms.

Ragan’s Council Career Conversations, launched earlier this year as a part of Ragan’s Communications Leadership Council, asks members of the council questions about their career paths and their takes on challenges they’ve encountered.

Lizz Summers, director of communications, rental division at Cintas, suggested that communicators just beginning their journey would do well to ask a lot of questions and not consider any question to be stupid. Showing your interest and curiosity also shows leaders that you’re open to learning from their perspectives and growing.

Alisha Celestine, executive director of leadership and internal communications at UCLA Health, talked about how communications leaders in healthcare must stay especially agile, sharing a story of solidifying an ambitious comms strategy to take effect the new year that had to shift on a dime.

Keith Cronin, director of internal communication at LexisNexis Risk Solutions spoke about AI’s influence on comms in the year ahead, acknowledging that AI writes better than most people. It won’t necessarily be factually accurate, he explained, but it will read well. And if you know your subject matter, you can still edit it and turn it into something exceptional.

The full Council Career Conversations series is available exclusively to members of the Communications Leadership Council. For more information on how to join and access additional resources, click here.
